Eskom confirms CFO placed on special leave amid investigation
Singh has been linked to the controversial Gupta family. He signed off on a number of deals that have since been questioned.
JOHANNESBURG - Eskom has confirmed that it’s placed its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Anoj Singh on special leave pending an investigation.
Eskom's board cannot confirm the details of the investigation.
Singh has been linked to the controversial Gupta family.
He signed off on a number of deals that have since been questioned and just last week he told the media he was working on a tell-all document about his trips to Dubai which were allegedly paid for by the Guptas.
It took more than two hours for Eskom to confirm that it has indeed placed its CFO Anoj Singh on special leave.
Spokesperson Khulani Qoba says this follows a decision by the board of directors pending an investigation.
“There is still a process of formulating the scope of the investigation so at this moment it would be impossible to actually comment further on that.”
Reports suggest that the Development Bank of South Africa issued a letter on Monday threatening to withdraw its multi-billion rand loan to Eskom if action wasn't taken against Singh.
The bank has refused to comment.
