Lesufi condemns disruptions at Klipspruit High over principal appointment

JOHANNESBURG – The Gauteng Education Department has condemned the disruption of schooling at Klipspruit West High School over the appointment of a new principal.
It's understood that community members have rejected the appointment of the new head master, allegedly because he’s black.
The department says that the action runs against the non-racial principles of society.
MEC Panyaza Lesufi says that educators are appointed on the basis of qualification and experience.
“Our bottom line is simple. We need to appoint a competent person that has the courage, energy and also have the integrity to run the school. Race is not an option we feel that we need to engage.”
Lesufi is planning to meet with the community soon.
