JOHANNESBURG - Two men believed to be illegal mining kingpins are expected to appear in a Limpopo court on Monday.

The suspects are accused of buying illegally mined chrome and exporting it in the Atok and Burgersfort areas.

Police confiscated mining machinery and a significant amount of unprocessed chrome from the pair.

The Mineral Resources Department's Ayanda Shezi says Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane has lauded the police for their work.

“Minister Zwane has commended law enforcement agencies in Limpopo for the strides made in the fight against illegal mining.”
