CAPE TOWN - The South African Federation for Trade Unions (Saftu) members and supporters have gathered in Cape Town as part of the newly established union’s Report Back Rally.

Saftu Western Cape officials say workers are tired of being failed by existing unions.

The newly launched labour federation is set on building a support base of at least one million supporters by the end of this year.

Saftu Deputy President Nomvume Ralarala says, “Already there was a vacuum on the ground. This 76% of unorganised workers; that was the vacuum. People on the ground were not protected.”
