JOHANNESBURG - Letshego Zulu says it was her mental strength that pushed her to accomplish the mammoth task of summiting Mount Kilimanjaro.

Zulu reached the top of the mountain on Tuesday in honour of her husband Gugu Zulu who died while attempting to summit in 2016.

She was part of the Trek4Mandela expedition which aims to increase access to sanitary towels for girls in South Africa.

Zulu says talking to herself helped her through the gruelling climb.

“Not once did I think I’m not going to make it. I’m that one person that’s headstrong if I start something I have to finish it. So, it’s literally was about just constantly talking to myself.”
