ZAMBIA - Zambia's first President Kenneth Kaunda is spending his third day in the country’s largest hospital following what doctors are calling minor complaints.

Doctors at the University Teaching Hospital say Kaunda underwent physiotherapy and was helped to sleep.

Zambia’s Vice-President Inonge Wina visited the former statesman who was shown in television pictures sitting in a chair and chatting with the visitors.

Zambia’s Health Minister Chilufya Chitalu says the medical personnel are also conducting general medical check-ups on Kaunda.

He promises to keep the public informed of developments.

His latest report says the former president’s condition is stable.

Kaunda was last admitted to hospital in April 2015.
