Retief’s initial eight-year sentence was set aside in the High Court on Friday.
The NPA had challenged Retief’s initial eight-year suspended sentence, arguing it was too lenient and inappropriate.
On Friday, Judge Andre Le Grange ordered Retief to 10 years imprisonment, suspended for two years based on the material misdirection of the trial magistrate.

Le Grange found the magistrate erred in finding some of the child victims were willing participants in the acts of abuse and that the young victims will not have any long-term effects of the crimes.
The judge also found Retief a danger to society.
