Duduzane Zuma allegedly let off over fatal car crash
A Randburg magistrates court ruled during an official inquest that Phumzile Dube’s death was caused by negligence on the part of Duduzane Zuma.
JOHANNESBURG – President Jacob Zuma’s son Duduzane has allegedly been let off the hook by the National Prosecuting Authority despite a magistrate ruling he should be held responsible for the death of a woman in a car crash.
The _Times _newspaper says it’s in possession of leaked emails which show how the NPA decided not to prosecute Zuma after he crashed his Porsche into a taxi in Sandton in 2014.
A woman died on the scene and another later died of natural causes in the hospital.
A Randburg magistrates court ruled during an official inquest that Phumzile Dube’s death was caused by negligence on the part of Duduzane Zuma.
Zuma had argued that he drove into a puddle of water and lost control of his car.
While the NPA found that the president’s son failed to conduct himself in a reasonable manner under circumstances, he was still let off the hook.
It’s being reported that in August 2015 a notification was sent to Zuma’s lawyer from the NPA informing him that he wouldn’t be criminally charged.
The email also allegedly said that there were no prospects of a successful prosecution.
