JOHANNESBURG - An accident has claimed three lives in Mpumalanga, leaving two others injured after a truck and a car collided along the N4 road outside Komatipoort.

Community safety security spokesperson Joseph Mabuza says the road had to be closed on Tuesday afternoon to allow emergency personnel to work through the wreckage to get to the victims.

Mabuza says those who died were all travelling in the SUV and the occupants of the truck escaped unharmed.

“The driver of the truck was trying to avoid colliding with a car that he was following and swerved towards right. Unfortunately, he collided with the SUV.”

Earlier this month 18 people were killed after a bus collided with a truck in the province
