Gauteng metered taxi drivers blame Uber for fresh clashes
Clashes broke out between the two groups at the Sandton Gautrain station on Monday with metered taxi drivers accusing Uber of operating illegally.
JOHANNESBURG – The Gauteng Concerned Metered Taxi Association has blamed Uber operators for the fresh tensions between drivers in Sandton.
Clashes broke out between the two groups at the Gautrain station on Monday, with metered taxi drivers accusing Uber of operating illegally.
The association’s Oupa Skosana says that urgent interventions are needed.
“The worst part of it is when the Uber people assaulted the police in full view of everybody, we don’t talk about that.
“We’ve been saying that people are like sheep that are being led to the slaughter house. There are police who are supposed to be enforcing the law but they are folding their hands.”
