Acting Sassa CEO Thokozani Magwaza fired
A statement released by the Department Of Social Development says Magwaza and Minister Bathabile Dlamini agreed to terminate his contract after a consultative process
In a statement released on Monday afternoon, the ministry says it’s agreed to terminate Magwaza's services after a consultative process with the head of its legal services.
Magwaza was dismissed after the Social Development Department's legal team held a consultative process between him and Minister Dlamini.
The department's Lumka Oliphant said: “The department would like to thank Mr Magwaza for the role he played as the CEO of Sassa and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
Just last week it emerged that Magwaza was being pressured into accepting an exit package after clashing with the minister on certain issues, particularly the Sassa payment scandal.
Magwaza is due to testify against the minister in a public inquiry into her role in the debacle.
He's disagreed with Dlamini's affidavit in which she argues that she should not be held personally liable.
