CAPE TOWN – Three City of Cape Town officials have yet to hear their fate after being caught drag racing in Milnerton.

The two drivers, a traffic officer and a firefighter, had been caught racing along the N7 on Wednesday evening by Ghost Squad officers.

Another traffic officer had been sitting in the passenger seat next to the firefighter.

All three officials have been served with pre-suspension letters.

The drivers are facing charges of reckless and negligent driving and participating in an illegal street race.

The City’s JP Smith has more: “Illegal street racing is extremely dangerous and one of our many enforcement challenges.

“It’s therefore very disappointing that the very people who are supposed to be protecting the public make themselves guilty of this behaviour.
