British PR body mulls decision on Bell Pottinger hearing
After receiving the DA’s complaint, the PRCA gave Bell Pottinger until 6 pm last night to make written submissions.
CAPE TOWN – A decision on whether Bell Pottinger is to face a hearing over work it did for the Guptas is to be mulled over by the Public Relations and Communications Association in Britain.
The regulatory body is one of two the Democratic Alliance (DA) has lodged a complaint with over the conduct of the PR giant.
The UK agency is accused of stirring racial tensions in South Africa.
After receiving the DA’s complaint, the PRCA gave Bell Pottinger until 6pm on Thursday to make written submissions.
The regulatory body has confirmed receipt of the documents and a committee will now decide whether to schedule a full hearing on the matter or not.
Meanwhile, the DA says that a complaint has also been lodged with the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.
Bell Pottinger has since apologised for some of the work it has done for Oakbay Investments and has vowed to release the findings of an investigation done by legal firm Herbert Smith Freehills in due course.
