Makhura: ANC losing moral authority for tolerating crooks
Gauteng Premier David Makhura told the SACP congress that radical economic transformation will not work without tackling corruption and state capture.
BOKSBURG - Gauteng Premier David Makhura says that the African National Congress (ANC) is losing its moral authority for seemingly tolerating crooks.
Makhura told the South African Communist Party (SACP) 14th congress in Boksburg on Tuesday that radical economic transformation will not work without tackling corruption and state capture.
The SACP’s leadership came down hard on issues of state capture and corruption, with Blade Nzimande saying there seems to be a parallel state which could also be viewed as a coup.
Makhura also spoke of the effect that corruption has on the ANC’s support.
“As the ANC’s national policy conference noted, we are losing moral authority because we’re tolerant of crooks in our ranks.”
Makhura says there are many in the ANC who are serious about eradicating corruption.
