More woes for Bell Pottinger
Freedom Front Plus wants the British government particularly Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson to investigate UK PR company Bell Pottinger.
JOHANNESBURG - The Freedom Front Plus (FFP) says it wants the British government particularly Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson to investigate UK PR company, Bell Pottinger.
In the coming week, the political party says it plans to lodge a criminal complaint under the Protection of Constitutional Democracy against Terrorist and Related Activities Act.
It believes Bell Pottinger interfered in South Africa's sovereignty when the company coordinating a campaign that promotes racial division apparently for the benefit of Gupta family businesses.
The PR firm last week announced it had dismissed four employees and apologised saying some of its work contravened ethics codes.
However, FFP chairperson Anton Alberts says the party still plans to report Bell Pottinger to British authorities.
“We will write a letter to the foreign secretary of the UK and ask him to investigate the matter from their point of view.”
Alberts adds they hope the British government can hold the company to account.
“If Bell Pottinger can get away with what they have done, the government must look at closing that gap so that in the future companies from the UK can’t act in this manner.”
