Hunt launched for suspects who torched cars at Mthatha police station

CAPE TOWN - Police in Mthatha are searching for arsonists who torched cars kept at a police station in Ngangelizwe.

The five vehicles were being kept in an impound lot for pending cases, while others had been stolen or abandoned.

The police were in the process of tracing their owners when the incident occurred.

Mthatha police spokesperson Mzukisi Fatyela says they are investigating cases of arson.

“We are waiting to check what was used to burn those vehicles. At this stage, there are no eyewitnesses but our intelligence is on top of that, we believe there is a strong case we are following.”
