CAPE TOWN - At least 5,000 people are expected to descend on Knysna this weekend as the annual Oyster Festival kicks off.

Festival organisers have remained positive about the success of the 10-day event despite fire flare-ups in Knysna and Plettenberg Bay this week.

No major changes have been made to the festival, except for the route change of the Featherbed Trail Run.

Knysna tourism's Jeannine Orzechowski said, “They can expect lots of fun for the whole family. The Knysna Cycle Tour will be a two-day family day of cycling. They can expect lots of oysters and activities for the kids.”
