CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Premier Helen Zille has been campaigning in Milnerton ahead of an August by-election to introduce a new Ward Councillor.

Zille introduced the party’s Ward 4 candidate to supporters at a local Cape Town shopping centre.

The Ward’s former councillor has been sacked following complaints from residents that he failed to fulfil his duties.

Premier Helen Zille and Democratic Alliance (DA) Ward 4 candidate Wandisile Ngeyi posed for photos with supporters at a Milnerton shopping complex.

Zille says she has already received positive feedback from voters.

“There’s been an enormously positive response, people are very enthusiastic and very supportive of the DA. But we need every single last vote to win this Ward again.”

Meanwhile, Ngeyi adds he is up to tackling challenges facing the community.

“Those challenges to me are an opportunity for us to rectify everything that went wrong.”

The by- election is set to take place on 2 August.
