FF+ planning to lodge criminal complaint against Bell Pottinger
The firm has come under fire for coordinating a narrative about ‘economic apartheid’ to apparently promote the business interests of the Gupta family.
CAPE TOWN - The Freedom Front Plus (FF+) plans to lodge a criminal complaint against British PR company Bell Pottinger for what the party calls “terrorism”.
The firm has come under fire for coordinating a narrative about “economic apartheid” to apparently promote the business interests of the Gupta family.
This week, the company apologised for running the campaign, which some say contributed towards racial division in the country.
The Freedom Front Plus believes Bell Pottinger has a case to answer to under the Protection of Constitutional Democracy against Terrorist and Related Activities Act.
It's chairperson Anton Alberts says they did some research on the matter.
“The Terrorism Act in South Africa is actually quite applicable because it states that any action of any sort whether it takes place within or outside the borders of the country can be polarising, and affect the population or section of the population, as well as the economy, can be deemed as an act of terrorism. “
The Freedom Front Plus believes Bell Pottinger has interfered in South Africa’s independence ...and should face drastic sanctions.
The party’s chairperson Anton Alberts says the British firm’s apology is nothing but a ploy to save its reputation.
“They have, as an individual unit or company within the UK, seriously intervened in the sovereignty of South Africa and had a very serious effect. The world must be very concerned about that.”
