JOHANNESBURG – Shiraaz Mohamed’s ex-wife says she fears that the photojournalist may have stumbled onto something which may be the very reason he remains in captivity.

Mohamed was abducted near the Syrian border with Turkey almost six months ago while on a humanitarian trip with the Gift of the Givers.

No group has claimed responsibility for his kidnapping.

Shaaziya Brijlal says that the silence about his abduction is deafening.

“The 10th of July is going to be six months already. For me this is very frustrating, we’d like some answers. I mean this has become unbearable, six months is a long time and we’re not sure what’s going on.

“My concern is that nobody seems to have a handle on this. The government also needs to act, it needs to take some firm action now.”
