Joburg prison scandal: Union to represent 4 suspended warders
The association claims the photos in their possession show the women dressed in appropriate and suitable dancing attire.
JOHANNESBURG – Trade union the Public Servants Association claims that it is in possession of the real photographs of the so-called prison party at the Johannesburg Correctional Centre and says the images which were circulated on social media were manipulated.
Images emerged last month of scantily clad women entertaining inmates at the facility during a Youth Day celebration.
The union claims that the photos in their possession show the women dressed in appropriate and suitable dancing attire.
The union’s Monica Venter says they are representing four suspended warders in court.
“That information will all come out in the investigation that’s done by the employer and later on the hearings where we’ll represent the member.
“At the moment, the photographs are subject to sub judice and we don’t want to reveal information that might jeopardise our member’s case later on.”
