At least 5 fires currently burning along Garden Route
Crews from the Eden District Municipality as well as a hundred from Working on Fire are also on the fire line in Blanco, Swartberg and Gouritsmond.
CAPE TOWN - There are currently five fires burning along the Garden Route.
Several blazes in Knysna and Plettenberg Bay were brought under control earlier, but it's understood windy conditions caused flare-ups.
Crews from the Eden District Municipality as well as a officials from Working on Fire are also on the fire line in Blanco, Swartberg and Gouritsmond.
Working on Fire's Lauren Howard says: “The focus areas in Knysna are Buffelsbaai, the Simola area as well as Groenvlei .According to the Southern Cape FPA manager, Charl Wade, he mentions that winds change every hour and that made it difficult for grounding aerial crew to contain the fires this morning. The fire situation looks good and the fires are contained.”
Two water-bombing helicopters are assisting.
