Union: Pictures from prison ‘strip show’ were manipulated
A trade union alleges photographs of women entertaining inmates at a Johannesburg prison were manipulated.
CAPE TOWN - A trade union alleges photographs of women entertaining inmates at a Johannesburg prison were manipulated.
The Correctional Services Department is investigating after photos were shared on social media of the scantily-clad women dancing with prisoners at the Johannesburg Correctional Centre during a youth day event. A number of officials have been suspended over the matter.
But, the Public Servants Association claims to be in possession of the correct photographs which show that the dancers were clothed in appropriate, suitable dancing attire.
The department's Logan Maistry says that the investigation is still underway.
“The investigation is still ongoing. We want to make sure that we finalise the investigation as soon as possible. However, we need to ensure that we comply with the necessary legislation.”
The investigating team will make recommendations to senior officials when it has completed the probe.
