Suspected CT gang leader shot & injured in Sandton
According to the reports, the driver managed to drive away, but collided with three other vehicles at the Morningside clinic.
CAPE TOWN - Cape Town 28s gang boss Ralph Stanfield and a friend were travelling in a white Audi R8 near Melrose Arch when shots were fired that the vehicle.
Stanfield, who is the nephew of late Cape Town drug lord Collin Stanfield was wounded but the police’s Mavela Masondo says he managed to drive himself to the hospital.
“Yes, it’s true because the shooting happened next to Melrose Arch but the victim managed to drive himself to the nearest hospital where he is being treated.”
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects. Stanfield’s attorney Noorudien Hassan was also murdered earlier this year. There have been a spate of assassinations in Cape Town recently linked to a turf war over control of nightclubs.
Earlier on, several sources told Eyewitness News Stanfield was shot earlier on Thursday afternoon.
The Sandton Chronicle also reported that the driver of an Audi R8 was shot in the upper body.
The news outlet reports the shooting took place in Melrose, near the Athol offramp.
It states that Constable David Mothapo has confirmed reports that the driver heard gunshots and realised he was the target.
According to the Chronicle, Mothapo said the driver managed to drive away but collided with three other vehicles at the Morningside Clinic.
