JOHANNESBURG – The National Education, Health and Workers' Union (Nehwau) says Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa is the only leader who can unite the African National Congress (ANC) after its elective conference in December.

The union held its 11th national congress in Boksburg over the past week.

It says Ramaphosa is a character of integrity with the right credentials to lead the movement toward the 2019 general elections.

Spokesperson Khaya Xaba reaffirmed the union’s support for Ramaphosa to succeed President Jacob Zuma as the ruling party’s leader.

“We are going to campaign for comrade Cyril to be the president of the ANC. We are going to go to all our structures to ensure that Ramaphosa wins and comes back to unite the ANC.”
