N3 highway reopened after ‘land invaders’ disrupt traffic
It's understood the group moved furniture and other household items across the highway.
JOHANNESBURG - The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) says it’s now managed to clear the N3 highway where suspected land invaders have been disrupting traffic.
It's understood the group moved furniture and other household items across the highway on Sunday morning to a piece of land on the other side of road near the Marlboro off-ramp.
The JMPD says the group responded by throwing stones at vehicles on the highway when they tried to disperse them.
JMPD spokesperson Edna Mamonyane says: “Metro Police had to close the freeway so that nobody would be injured. Everything is under control and the freeway has been reopened. Metro Police will stay in the area.”
