OR Tambo Airport working to identify staff aiding criminal syndicates
The airport says its noted Sunday’s 'Carte Blanche' episode which revealed the use of insiders by criminals to identify their potential targets.
JOHANNESBURG – OR Tambo International Airport says it’s working on identifying its staff who are allegedly involved in assisting criminals in syndicates.
The airport says that its noted Sunday’s Carte Blanche episode which revealed the use of insiders by criminals to identify their potential targets.
Numerous cases of people who have been followed from the airport and robbed have been reported.
Last month, Eyewitness News reported the murder of a shuttle driver near the airport in an attempted diamond heist.
Airport spokesperson Leigh Gunkel-Keuler says: “We’ll not hesitate to take decisive action where we identify any persons helping the criminals, irrespective of whether these people are employed by Airport Company South Africa or one of the very many service providers operating at the airport.”
