Gauteng social cluster MECs to present budget vote speeches
Gwen Ramokgopa and Panyaza Lesufi are among those who will table their projects in an effort to improve the lives of residents in the province.
JOHANNESBURG – The Gauteng government’s social cluster MECs will present their individual budget vote speeches in the provincial legislature this morning.
Heads of the provincial Health, Education and Community Safety Departments will let residents know exactly how they plan on using their money to provide better services in the province.
The three departments were given the largest slice of the province’s budget earlier this year.
In March, Finance MEC Barbara Creecy unveiled Gauteng’s R108 billion budget for the 2017/2018 financial year, putting a huge focus on education and health.
The Health Department received R40.3 billion while Education was handed R40.8 billion.
While Ramokgopa is expected to highlight issues of supplier payments and medico-legal claims, Lesufi will concentrate on improving the public schooling system and developing classroom infrastructure.
