Men accused of killing Coligny teen back in court today
Pieter Doorewaard and Phillip Schutte are accused of killing 16-year-old Matlhomola Mosweu in April.
JOHANNESBURG – Two North West farm workers accused of killing a Coligny teenager are expected to appear in the Mahikeng High Court this morning.
Pieter Doorewaard and Phillip Schutte are accused of killing 16-year-old Matlhomola Moshoeu in April.
The pair allegedly caught Moshoeu stealing sunflowers.
They claim they were driving him to the local police station in their bakkie when he jumped off and broke his neck.
Moshoeu’s death sparked riots in the small North West town of Coligny with residents taking to the streets, looting and burning houses.
The court previously reserved judgment on whether the State’s application for leave to appeal the decision of the Coligny Magistrates Court which granted bail to the two accused was properly brought to court.
