Criminal lawyer Tumi Mokoena remanded in custody for 4 attempted murders
It's understood he was visiting the farm to represent workers in a salary dispute with management when he opened fire.
JOHANNESBURG - Well-known criminal lawyer Tumi Mokoena has been remanded in custody after his first court appearance in connection with four attempted murders.
Mokoena allegedly shot and wounded four people at a farm in Polokwane on Thursday.
It's understood he was visiting the farm to represent workers in a salary dispute with management.
Police say an argument broke out and Mokoena allegedly opened fire and ran away.
The lawyer is best known for representing clients such Economic Freedom Fighter Leader Julius Malema.
The police's Moatshe Ngoepe says he'll be back in court next week for a formal bail application.
“He was remanded in custody with no bail until 27 June for a formal bail application. Our investigations in this regard are still continuing.”
