CAPE TOWN - There are fears that a suspected gang-related shooting which claimed the lives of three people in Bishop Lavis could lead to revenge killings in other parts of the city.

Three people were gunned down in a drive-by shooting in Nooitgedacht over the weekend.

It is speculated that the attack is linked to a shooting in which an alleged gang boss was wounded in Elsies River last month.

The shooting is said to have taken place near the house of a suspected gang leader. The fatal shooting was reportedly meant as a warning to him.

Local CPF chairperson Graham Lindhorst has raised concerns following the incident.

“I don’t think it will only be for our area. It could go to other areas.”

Police say suspects in the shooting are still at large and the investigation is ongoing.

Two men died on scene while a third died in hospital. Some residents believe that a fourth man was also wounded in the shooting, but he managed to escape.
