Stepfather bust after death of 18-month-old

CAPE TOWN - Police are investigating the cause of the death of an 18-month-old boy in Kensington in the Western Cape.

The child was declared dead after he was taken to the local clinic for medical attention on Monday.

He sustained serious injuries to his head and body.

The police's Noloyiso Rwexana says the child's stepfather has been arrested in connection with the murder.

“The Western Cape has been hit by yet another child murder. According to reports, police responded to a complaint at a health facility in Kensington where health workers informed them of an 18-month-old boy who died from his injuries after he was brought for medical attention.”

A postmortem is underway to determine the cause of death.
