EC Education Dept offers counselling to school after learners die in crash

CAPE TOWN - The Eastern Cape Basic Education Department is providing counselling after five pupils died in a road collision.

Two others are in a critical condition.

The pupils from Gumzana High School had been travelling to Bizana when the accident occurred on Monday.

Department spokesperson Malibongwe Mtima says the department is saddened by the incident.

“We will provide support to the families of the victims, other learners and educators through counselling. This untimely death of our learners has taken everyone by surprise.”
