CAPE TOWN - Security has been bolstered at a Manenberg school after a fire broke out at the institution over the weekend.

At least three classrooms were gutted at the Silverstream Secondary School.

The provincial education MEC's spokesperson, Jessica Shelver, says the cause of the blaze is not yet known.

“We are awaiting a full report from the city on the extent of the damages. The school currently has enough classrooms to function normally and education will not be negatively impacted in an y way. The WCED’s Safe Schools has deployed emergency security to the school.”
