JOHANNESBURG - The family of the 13-year-old girl who was found after she had gone missing for three weeks say the teenager is at a place of safety.

Kitso Mothibe was found by her cousin at Park Station in Johannesburg on Saturday.

The teenager's stepfather, Kabelo Matsatsi, called into 702 last week, asking for help to find her.

He says his pleas were ignored at the Johannesburg central police station.

He says his stepdaughter told the family that she was trafficked.

“Apparently, she was with a group of three other girls, but we don’t know who those girls are. When I spoke to her she said when she found out she was about to be sold to Nigerians or Tanzanians, she saw the newspaper article that she was missing and wanted to go home.”

On Thursday, Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba, the JMPD and police raided a hijacked building in the CBD in search of the girl who it was feared had been kidnapped.
