JOHANNESBURG - Plans are underway for a memorial and funeral service for a woman, allegedly killed by her boyfriend, after her remains were positively identified.

Karabo Mokoena was allegedly killed by Sandile Mantsoe last month. Mokoena's charred remains were discovered in a veld in Bramley last week.

The Mokoena family says they've been left devastated following the ordeal.

Karabo's uncle Tsepho Mokoena says the memorial service for his niece will be held on Wednesday and the funeral on Friday.

Meanwhile, MEC for Community Safety Nandi Mayathula-Khoza visited the family on Sunday to offer counselling.

The MEC's spokesperson Mbangwa Xaba: "Social workers will start the process as soon as the family has gone through the funeral."

Sandile Mantsoe has been charged with premeditated murder and defeating the ends of justice and is expected to appear for a formal bail application in later this month.
