Mbalula: South Africa is a very safe country
Police Minister Fikile Mbalula says South Africa has a world-class police service and a strong crime prevention unit.
PRETORIA – Police Minister Fikile Mbalula has refuted claims that South Africa is not a safe country.
This comes after Kenya’s government issued a travel warning to its citizens planning to visit the country.
Mbalula says South Africa has a world-class police service and a strong crime prevention unit.
The minister is currently visiting police stations in Soshanguve and Mabopane in Pretoria.
Mbalula says South Africa is safe for tourists, adding that officers here are the ones concerned about international travelers who come to the country to commit crimes.
“South Africa is a very safe country, we’re fighting crime and criminals.”
Mbalula also reacted the murder of 22-year-old Karabo Mokoena, warning young women to be wary of domestic violence
“Girls must not put up with abuse and this abuse happens everywhere.”
The minister says he will continue visiting police stations, in an effort to motivate officers to carry on with what he says is a selfless commitment to ensure the country’s safety.
