CAPE TOWN – Technical director of the South African Football Association’s Neil Tovey has told Eyewitness News that Stuart Baxter's experience makes him the perfect candidate to coach the national team.

More than four months after Shakes Mashaba was fired for gross misconduct, the football governing body has named the current Supersport United coach as his successor.

It will be his second bite of the cherry after coaching Bafana between 2004 and 2005.

Tovey says Baxter will know what to expect.

“Having had the experience before and knowing how Safa operates, I think he’ll be much wiser.”
