DURBAN – Communications Minister Ayanda Dlodlo says she will implement African National Congress (ANC) policy and introduce an encrypted form of digital terrestrial television.

Former Communications Minister Faith Muthambi was accused of going against ANC policy and implementing an unencrypted system.

That led to a public dispute between her and the ANC last year.

Dlodlo says she is aware of the case brought by e.TV against the policy of unencrypted digital terrestrial television and she will follow ANC policy.

“All that I know is ANC policy. My responsibility is to implement the policies of the government of the day for the better good of our people.”

She says that means she will go with the encrypted system.

e.TV says encryption is vital for it to be a sustainable business but DSTV has opposed e.TV on this issue in court.
