CAPE TOWN – The Elsies River Community Policing Forum (CPF) says there are no links between a mass shooting and the killing of a suspected gangster.

Three people died and 10 were wounded in a drive-by shooting along Tiara Road in Leonsdale on Monday evening.

Earlier that day a 31-year-old man, who's a suspected gang member, was shot dead in the area.

Police say no arrests have yet been made in both of the incidents.

CPF deputy chairperson Imraahn Mukaddam says they do not believe the two incidents are linked.

“We don’t believe there is a link, and we don’t believe it was a case of mistaken identity. It was a brute show of force by one group of armed militia against another group in our community.”
