JOHANNESBURG – Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says his department has already detected minor technical glitches to its 2018 online school admission system for grade one and grade eight pupils.

Within the first few minutes, 16,000 parents logged onto the portal to apply for their children to be placed at their preferred schools.

Lesufi says he was hoping that more parents would have already registered their children on the website by now.

“The thing is people like to test the water, people wanting to make sure that it’s working because remember people use their last data bundles.”

Some of the parents say they are pleased that the process is running smoothly.

“I think it took me less than 5 minutes. It was faster and the process was good.”

The department is now trying to resolve all the minor glitches to the system and has urged parents to report any further issues as soon as possible.
