JOHANNESBURG - North West police say they are talking to local farmers in Coligny trying to find the family of a 12-year-old boy who was killed in the area.
Two men have been arrested and appeared in court on Friday for the murder of the boy.
The suspects claim the boy jumped off a bakkie while they were taking him to a police station after finding him trying to steal sunflowers.
This incident has angered local residents who demonstrated, looting shops and burning houses.
The police’s Sabata Mokgwabone says no one has come forward to identify the boy or report him missing.
“We can confirm that the 12-year-old boy has not yet been identified. We’re actually appealing to members of the community to come forward with information that can assist us in finding his relatives.”
