Rand strength could ease petrol price in June
The Energy Department says if the rand strengthens, a decrease in the petrol price may be on the cards for motorists in June.
JOHANNESBURG - The Energy Department says if the rand strengthens, a decrease in the petrol price may be on the cards for motorists in June.
The department on Thursday announcement that petrol prices will be going up next week.
This means from Wednesday motorists will have to fork out 49 cents more for 93 and 95 octane petrol, while diesel is going up between 30 and 32 cents per litre.
The department's Robert Maake says: “It’s still early to say but we’ve seen that in the last couple of weeks the rand has been strengthening against the dollar and the price of crude oil declining. If that trend continues then will see prices going down in June.”
