JOHANNESBURG - Sars has seized a significant amount of counterfeit goods and drugs at OR Tambo International Airport worth more than R8.3 million.
While raiding several cargo sheds over the weekend, officials uncovered various packages from Hong Kong destined for different suburban addresses in Gauteng.
Cell phones, clothes and shoes were found.
In another bust, a woman from Sao Paolo in Brazil was caught with cocaine worth close to R2 million.
Sars spokesperson Sandile Memela said, “A custom detector dog intercepted a female passenger from Sao Paolo with 6.45kg of cocaine. She has been handed over the police.”
