Public Protector set to consider DA request to probe Dlamini-Zuma VIP security
Police Minister Fikile Mbalula has confirmed that Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is still receiving high-level protection following an apparent security threat.
CAPE TOWN – The Public Protector’s office is expected to consider a request by the Democratic Alliance (DA) to investigate whether government is abusing state resources by providing VIP protection to African National Congress (ANC) presidential hopeful Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
The Police Minister has confirmed that Dlamini-Zuma is still receiving high-level protection following an apparent security threat.
While government is using an alleged robbery attempt at a hotel in Johannesburg to justify providing protection for Dlamini-Zuma, it’s unclear if the incident did in fact happen, with hotel management denying the incident took place.
DA Member of Parliament Zakhele Mbhele says: “We request an investigation into whether or not VIP protection extended to Dlamini-Zuma is justified, according to the prescripts and the policies.”
