CAPE TOWN - The Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) is expected to conclude its hearing into the conduct of Professor Tim Noakes.

Noakes advised a mother via Twitter to wean her child on foods low in carbohydrates and high in fat.

Former president of the Association for Dietetics in South Africa Claire Julsing Strydom laid the complaint with the council following Noakes’s tweet in 2014.

The HPCSA has charged him with unprofessional conduct.

It’s reported that advocate Ajay Bhoopchand on Tuesday questioned the benefits of Noakes’ diet for babies.

Noakes's advocate, Michael van der Nest, began with arguments on Tuesday.

A finding is expected later this month.
