JOHANNESBURG - It’s being reported that former social development director general Zane Dangor and his family have been threatened and intimidated, in the wake of the grants crisis.

Dangor’s Johannesburg home was broken into two weeks ago, and now the Sunday Times is reporting that he’s received threatening calls and messages calling him “an obstructionist” who needs to be removed.

Dangor resigned as the department’s DG shortly after it emerged that no plan was in place to take over the payment of social grants, once the invalid deal with Cash Paymaster Service expired.

The Constitutional Court has since granted a 12 month extension, to ensure the country’s most vulnerable receive their money.
