Sassa clarifies issue on grant payout dates
Beneficiaries who draw their payments at an ATM or retail outlets will receive their money from 1 April.
CAPE TOWN - The South Africa Social Security Agency (Sassa) says grant beneficiaries who draw their payments at an ATM and retail outlets will receive their money from 1 April.
However, Sassa says beneficiaries who collect their money from Sassa payout points will be paid on 3 April as 1 April falls on a Saturday.
Sassa's Paseka Letsatsi explained: “When people went to get their money on 1 March their next pay date was stated very clearly. Our people also know that pay point are not open on Saturday. So they should stick with the dates that appear on their slips.”
Doubts were cast over Sassa’s operations after it failed to appoint a new service provider to take over from Cash Paymaster Services (cps), whose contract was supposed to end in March.
The Constitutional Court, however, recently extended the contract with CPS for a further 12 months.
