JOHANNESBURG - The State has revealed that its investigation into the OR Tambo Airport heist has extended beyond South Africa’s borders.

The bail applications in the Kempton Park Magistrates Court of five suspects arrested in connection with the holdup were expected to be finalised on Wednesday, but the matter may be postponed.

A total of seven suspects are now facing charges for the robbery in which an estimated R20 million was taken.

There’ve been several delays with regards to the bail applications of five of the suspects arrested for the heist as their defence teams are not ready to proceed.

Earlier on Wednesday, the State revealed that another suspect had been arrested and added as an accused.

Prosecutor Pieter Erasmus has also recharged one of the first suspects arrested, his case had been withdrawn due to a technicality.

Erasmus has told the court that there are still many more arrests to be made, that they are investigating outside South Africa's borders and that it could take at least six months to finalise the investigation.
