JOHANNESBURG - While African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Gwede Mantashe has shied away from weighing in on President Jacob Zuma's instruction for Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan to cancel his investment roadshow, he says the real impact of the president's decision will be seen if there is any other step taken.

Mantashe briefed the media on Monday on the outcome of the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting over the weekend.

Mantashe says the ANC NEC did not discuss President Zuma's instruction to Gordhan on Monday to come back home.

When asked about the plummeting of the rand following reports of the instruction Mantashe gave this telling statement.

“We’ll see the reaction depending on what ultimately happens. The real impact will be seen if there is any other steps taken.”

The secretary general couldn't deny or confirm if the top six has recently been consulted about a Cabinet reshuffle, saying he didn’t want to speculate.
